OPBA endorses State Issue 3 Casinos
The Ohio Patrolmen's Benevolent Association today endorsed State Issue 3, which would authorize casinos in Cleveland, Cincinnati, Columbus and Toledo.
"These casinos would pay an estimated 332 million a year in taxes," Terry Gallagher, executive director of the OPBA.
"Some of that money could be used to hire more police or to prevent layoffs. And 2% would be earmarked for law enforcement training."
"For these reasons and because of the potential economic benefit to Ohio, the OPBA supports Issue 3."
The OPBA is the second largest labor organization in Ohio representing law enforcement personnel.
Its 7,500 members include police, deputy sheriffs, and corrections officers.
