WARREN OFFICER DOUG HIPPLE BENEFIT FUND
On June 12th, Warren F.O.P. #34 and the OPBA sponsored the IWA wrestling show produced by All-Star Fundraising & Monsters of the Ring as one of the events to raise monies for Officer Doug Hipple who was critically burned rescuing three mentally handicapped females from a burning house on April 29. Doug received 3rd degree burns to his head, neck and arms and burns to his esophagus and lungs. He remains under medical treatment but is doing well. The event was one of several fundraisers to assist the Hipple family and victims of the fire.
The event was held at the Packard Music Hall in Warren and was well attended raising $12,000 for the victims. Warren Township officer Ed Anthony and Lieutenant Preston Steel, Trumbull County Sheriff’s helped put the event together and wrestled on the show. The professional wrestlers all volunteered their time for the event.
On June 2nd Sagamore Hills Officer Kevin Skizenta age 40, lost a long and difficult battle with Leukemia.
On Saturday Aug 22, officers of the Sagamore Hills Police Department held a Memorial Bike Rally and Car show to celebrate Kevin’s life, share memories and help raise funds for the his wife and children to help offset hospital bills.
The weather held up and about 50 motorcycles started their tour at noon and about 50 classic cars entered the car show that was well attended.
A 50/50 drawing, door prizes, a silent auction, games, food and music were all available.
Janell Mucha, Dispatcher Supervisor, Sergeant Dan Rice and other members of Sagamore Hills Police Department did a great job of coordinating the event that was well attended. Executive board members Jeff Pedicino and Dave Spagnolo attended. Kudos to all who donated their time and efforts.
Members of the Vandalia Police Department and the Miamisburg Police Department hosted a Fish Fry and Monte Carlo Benefit for Joan Manning, a sergeant and long time employee of the Miamisburg Police Department who is battling Stage 3 Multiple Myeloma Cancer.
Sergeant Manning’s husband Joe began his career as a Police Officer with Miamisburg Police Department and is currently with the Vandalia Police Department.
The benefit was held at the Amvets Post 99 and was filled to the max. There were many gifts donated to the auction and great prize’s to be raffled off, including a Panasonic 50” Plasma Television and tickets to the Ohio State vs Navy football game. My favorite was a chance to win a lesson from a professional race car driver and take a spin around the track at speeds of at least 165 mph.
Executive Director Terry Gallagher his wife attended and were graciously received by and introduced to members of Miamisburg and Vandalia Police Departments. These officers did a great job of putting this event together that brought more than 500 people and raised $28,000.
Congratulations to all who donated their time and efforts.
